Humane Society Takes Over Animal Services for Santee
Beginning July 1, 2018, the San Diego Humane Society is taking over animal control services for the City of Santee under a 3-year contract that will offer a broad range of services to local residents.
The most significant change is that a Humane Society officer will patrol the city and respond to complaints of barking dogs, lost pets and other animal-related calls. Lost or runaway animals found in Santee will no longer be taken to the county’s animal shelter in Bonita. Stray animals not claimed the same day will be taken to the Humane Society shelter at 5480 Gaines Street in San Diego. The Humane Society will also issue dog licenses and coordinate spay and neuter programs for Santee.
