Steps to obtain a U. S. Passport through the Acceptance Facility at the City of Santee

 The Santee City Clerk's Office is a U.S. Passport Acceptance Facility.  Questions or requests for appointments? (619) 258-4100 x114.  Passport applications will be accepted by appointment Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Fridays 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

If you need to renew a passport, please review the guidelines on the U.S. Department of State’s website  at the link below to ensure you can apply in person and do not have to renew by mail. Please review the requirements to obtaining a passport through a passport acceptance agency.

 Instructions on completing your application are below.

Fill Out an Application in Printed/Black Ink ONLY.

   

Passport Application Form DS-11 

  • Do not sign the application until instructed to do so by the acceptance agent.
  • You must provide a Social Security Number (SSN) in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714a.
  • You may request a larger passport book with 52 pages, at no additional cost, by checking the '52 page' box at the top of the DS-11.

Provide Evidence of U.S. Citizenship

   

You must submit one of the following. Photocopies and notarized copies are not acceptable.

  • U.S. birth certificate that meets the following requirements:
    • Issued by the city, county, or state of birth
    • Lists your full name, date of birth, and place of birth
    • Lists your parent(s)' full names
    • Has the date filed with registrar's office (must be within one year of birth)
    • Has the registrar's signature
    • Has the seal of the issuing authority
  • Fully-valid, undamaged U.S. passport (may be expired)
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth 
  • Certificate of Naturalization
  • Certificate of Citizenship

Present Identification

   

You must present one of the following identification documents (IDs) to the acceptance agent. The ID must readily identify you.

  • In-state, fully-valid driver's license
  • Fully-valid, undamaged U.S. passport (may be expired)
  • Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
  • Government employee ID (city, county, state or federal)
  • U.S. military ID or military dependent ID
  • Valid foreign passport
  • Matricula Consular (Mexican Consular Identification, commonly used by the parent of a U.S. citizen child applicant)

Visit City Hall to complete your paperwork

   

You must submit your: completed application, including citizenship evidence, ID, photo, and fees, in person to the Santee City Clerk’s Office located at 10601 Magnolia Avenue, Building 3, Santee, CA 92071 (619) 258-4100 X114.

 

Passport Photos

 

 You must bring your photo(s) with you when you arrive to your appointment at the Santee City Clerk's Office.  We do not offer passport photo services at this time.  

Where to get a Passport Photo

There are many places to get a passport photo. At least one photo is required when applying for most passport services. Where you get a passport photo is important because unacceptable pictures is one of the principal reasons that applications are delayed.

Both FedEx and UPS stores offer passport photo services.   In addition, the three largest pharmacy chains in the United States are CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens and all three offer passport pictures. With a combined total of more than 15,000 locations, you should have no problem finding a store near you. Walmart also offers this service.

 Fees to the Department of State are payable by check or money order only.

 The City of Santee processes passport applications by appointment ONLY.  You will need two checks or money orders, one made payable to the U.S. Department of State and one made payable to the City of Santee. The City of Santee DOES NOT take cash OR credit card payments. Money Orders can be purchased at various locations in the City.

 

Passport hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
