NOTICE: New State Law - No Parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk

Effective January 1, 2025, the state of California passed Assembly Bill 413 (the “Daylighting” Law), which requires a clear zone around crosswalks to reduce traffic accidents. Section of the Vehicle Code, CVC 22500(n), now prohibits the stopping, standing, or parking of a vehicle within 20 feet (from the approaching direction of travel side) of any marked or unmarked crosswalk anywhere in California.

Santee residents can participate in the free Street Tree Program. Residents who have a house with a parkway in front of it – a strip of landscaping between the sidewalk area and curb—may qualify for a free tree.
