The Community Services Department provides a wide array of services to enhance the quality of life for the community. The Department is composed of the Public Services and Parks & Recreation Divisions, and it also oversees Solid Waste and Recycling.
The Public Services Division performs maintenance and repairs to: City-owned buildings and property, parks, rights of way, the municipal storm drain system, the urban forest, City trails; and landscape maintenance districts.
The Parks & Recreation Division provides professional supervision and management of a variety of leisure, recreational and entertainment experiences. Programs and services offered to the community include Instructional Programs and Camps, Special Events, Senior 55+ Programs, Teen Center, Santee Skate Park, and permitting use and coordination of parks, fields and facilities.
In 2017 the Park and Recreation Master Plan was updated.

Supporting Organizations
The City of Santee Community Services Department receives support and guidance from two organizations, in addition to direction from the Santee City Council. The Santee Park and Recreation Committee (SPARC) serves in an advisory role to the City Council on matters related to municipal parks and recreation programs. The Santee Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to strengthening the community by developing and enhancing parks, open spaces, and recreational and civic programs. Its mission is to serve underserved and disadvantaged residents while promoting social equity for all citizens.
