Flood Zone Regulations
The City of Santee Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance defines special flood hazard areas within the City and regulates work taking place within these special flood hazard areas.

FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) publishes maps, called Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), that show flood zones. FIRMs are the result of engineering studies that are performed by engineering companies, other federal agencies, or the community and are reviewed and approved by FEMA.
New Development Requirements
In addition to the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and FEMA FIRM maps, the City has a San Diego River Floodplain Study that defines special flood hazard areas, New construction should be elevated to a minimum of one-foot above the 100 year floodplain provided in this flood study.
