Councilmember Dustin Trotter was born and raised in Santee, California. He and his high school sweetheart of 24 years Genny, have raised their two children in this community. Mr. Trotter has spent the last 16 years building and refining his contracting business TDT Construction. Over the years, he has stood by his core business values: have integrity on the job, remain honest with clients and other contractors, and take pride in your work to ensure a quality product.
Councilmember Trotter has not only been dedicated to his family and business, the majority of his free time is spent as a community servant. Most notably he has served the Santee Food Bank, Santee Parks and Recreation Committee (SPARC), Guardian Angels Church, the Santee Chamber of Commerce, Santee Young Professionals, Santee Santa's, Buddy’s Backpacks and the City of Santee Community Oriented Policing Committee (COMPOC).
Most recently, he spearheaded the fundraising, planning and building of the Santee Veterans Memorial Bridge & Monument in conjunction with the Santee Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Trotter believes this to be his legacy project in the community and is eager to see it come to fruition. Learn more about the project.
One of Councilmember Trotter’s greatest honors was being awarded the title “Citizen of the Year” in 2017 by the Santee Chamber of Commerce, for his work in the community loyalty to the people of Santee.
During his first term on the Santee City Council, Councilmember Trotter has been focused on his three top priorities for Santee.
- Economic prosperity by nurturing a business-friendly environment that protects small businesses and redeveloping the City’s Development Services Department to make it manageable to obtain building permits
- Public safety and traffic reduction by fixing crumbling streets and finding a solution to mitigate the 52 freeway traffic. Councilman Trotter has been instrumental in allocating more funds to improving roads and infrastructure in the City’s budget; in the 2021-2022fiscal year, he advocated for a $3.7M increase in the budget for these purposes
- Enhancing Santee residents’ overall well-being by taking an active role in building the new community center and completing the river trail system
In the future, Councilmember Trotter will continue to focus on his three top priorities and ensuring Santee residents are represented fairly and honestly.
Councilmember Trotter believes firmly in former President Ronald Reagan’s quote “Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives”. If you would like to speak with Mr. Trotter, please reach out to him via phone or email.
