Small Residential Rooftop Solar Systems, Solar Pool Heating Systems or Solar Domestic Water Heating Systems that do not qualify for expedited permit processing may require detailed analysis that is not accommodated by the expedited permitting process. 

Automated Residential Solar Permitting Through Solar APP+

Before applying for an automated solar plan review and solar permit, projects must follow certain requirements.  SolarAPP+ is designed to provide a code-compliance check for the majority of residential, roof-mounted, retrofit photovoltaic systems. To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the SolarAPP+ Checklist.  Only projects that conform to this list are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting.

1. Submit for automated review through SolarAPP+

• To start using SolarAPP+, register and submit your design through the SolarAPP+ Webpage
• A processing fee will be charged by SolarAPP+. Download your approved plans and certificate.

2. Apply for a Santee Solar Permit

• An active city of Santee Business License is required.
• Apply for a City of Santee SolarAPP+ permit at SanteePortal.org
• Complete Permit Declaration Form and attach in Step 1 of permit application process.
• Pay for the permit

3. Schedule Inspection

• Request an inspection through your SanteePortal.org account
  • Note: You will need to log into your SanteePortal.org account or register for an account to complete the permit and inspection request process.  Inspections will not be scheduled without a completed Permit Declaration Form.
