Licensed Care Facilities
Operational Permits
Facilities licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD), are required to have a passing fire safety inspection before becoming licensed. A request for an inspection is routed to the Fire Department from CCLD. This includes community care facilities, residential care facilities for the elderly, large family day-cares, etc.
It is recommended that potential facilities request a pre-inspection prior to submitting a formal application to CCLD. The pre-inspection/consultation can provide helpful information about building and fire code requirements which must be met to become a licensed facility. Privately owned, single-family residences are eligible for this service. (Commercial properties, clinics, drug treatment facilities, etc. may hire a consultant, architect, or other qualified resource). Please complete and email the Fire Pre-inspection/Consultation Request form to fireinfo@cityofsanteeca.gov to request a Pre-inspection.
