Citywide Streetlight LED Upgrade Project

The City of Santee will start construction of the Citywide Streetlight LED Upgrade Project on Monday August 12, 2024. The project will upgrade approximately 1,600 of the City-owned streetlights to LED fixtures, which is estimated to save close to $100,000 a year in energy costs. The City’s Contractor, Yunex, will be working throughout the City over the next month to complete the project.

The new LED lights may appear to be brighter since they cover a larger area of the roadway, but the amount of light being emitted is actually less than the old lights. Additionally, these specific lights were chosen because we are addressing citizens' safety concerns regarding dim lighting.

If you feel like you need a lighting shield please submit a request via the City of Santee's Service Request System. 

Shields will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
