New County Animal Shelter Under Construction in Santee

There is currently a new County of San Diego Department of Animal Service Animal Shelter under construction in Santee on the northwest corner of Magnolia Avenue and Riverview Parkway. The City of Santee has contracted with the San Diego Humane Society since 2018 to provide animal services and will continue to utilize SDHS for animal control services.

NOTICE: New State Law - No Parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk

Effective January 1, 2025, the state of California passed Assembly Bill 413 (the “Daylighting” Law), which requires a clear zone around crosswalks to reduce traffic accidents. Section of the Vehicle Code, CVC 22500(n), now prohibits the stopping, standing, or parking of a vehicle within 20 feet (from the approaching direction of travel side) of any marked or unmarked crosswalk anywhere in California.
